Box Tops VISA (11/15/01)
FULL STORY:
First USA and General Mills have teamed to offer VISA cards that potentially
can generate up to $10,000 annually for each of the more than 67,000 American
schools enrolled in the Box Tops program. Combined with the General Mills
"CLIP" program and the new "SHOP ONLINE" program, schools can now receive a
maximum of $30,000 per year, per school. General Mills launched the Box Tops
for Education program in 1996 and has raised more than $50 million to
America's schools. More than half of American homes with children participate in the
original Box Tops for Education clipping program. The new Box Tops VISA card
donates 1% of all purchases to the enrolled school of choice. A maximum of
$10,000 may be generated for any one school per year from the VISA program.
First USA is offering no annual fee, a six-month 1.9% intro APR, and a prime
+6.99% on-going interest rate for the new card. Under the new "SHOP ONLINE"
program, shoppers at the Box Tops for Education Online Marketplace, a gateway
to over 100 online stores, can generate up to 10% of qualifying purchases to
the enrolled school of choice, up to $10,000 per school, per year. The
original "CLIP" program for the Box Tops for Education requires consumers to collect
box tops from more than 330 participating General Mills products, then sending to
box tops to the enrolled school. The school can then redeem them for cash (10
cents per Box Top), up to $10,000, per school, per year. For more information
