The expanding acceptance of credit cards now range from taxis to taxes. This week a new pilot program seeks to capture rent payments onto plastic. The unusual concept comes from nowhere else but San Francisco. RentPayment and VISA announced plans this week to offer an online sweepstakes promotion to encourage tenants to charge their rent payments. Under the partnership, RentPayment and VISA will offer $500 in rent paid each month to several lucky subscribers within the RentPayment billing network. Between now and Feb. 5, VISA cardholders who pay their rent at the RentPayment Website using their VISA card, will be automatically entered to win. The sweepstakes is being supported by a localized advertising effort, including direct marketing within each residential unit and through RentPayment customer communication.
