Contest Extension (6/5/00)
FULL STORY:
VISA is extending the deadline of the U.S. program of its global
children's art competition, "VISA Olympics of the Imagination''. The extension, by a
week, to June 15 will bring U.S. children in-line with the same guidelines as other
participating countries. The "VISA Olympics of the Imagination" challenges
children, ages 9-13, to use their imaginations to create an original piece of
art that represents what the Olympic motto of "Citius, Altius, Fortius"
(Faster, Higher, Stronger) means to them. All children, ages 9-13, can enter
the program individually and are not required to be a part of any
school program to compete. The winners of the program and a parent or guardian
will attend the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games as the guests of VISA in Sydney,
Australia, from September 14-19, 2000. While at the XXVII Olympiad, they will
attend a number of Olympic events and activities, and
will participate in special Australian-themed activities. Contest entry
information is available through
www.visa.com/visakids.
VISA also announced last week the opening of the "Olympians Reunion
Centre" in
Sydney. Designed as a hospitality facility for Olympic alumni athletes, the
Olympians Reunion Centre will be located in Sydney's historic Customs House at
Circular Quay adjacent to one of Sydney's Olympic "Live Sites". The Centre
will be open from 1000 a.m. until midnight each day during the Olympic Games.
