Internet pornography and debit have finally hooked up as a new debit card penetrates the market. Houston, Texas-based Rick's Cabaret International created the new Porn Debit card to solve two problems. First, many adult Web site operators have been unable to establish a profitable business through the acceptance of major credit cards. This is due to the high number of chargebacks created by such sites. A disproportionate number of visitors will charge their visits to a credit card and then later deny the transaction. Because the new Porn Debit card is prepaid, the adult webmaster will be guaranteed payment in full without worrying about chargebacks. The second problem is that visitors prefer to be anonymous. Since it is prepaid, the card does not have the consumer's name imprinted on it. The debit card will allow consumers to anonymously purchase access to adult Web sites without the need to use a credit card or checking account. With Rick's adult debit card no banking or personal information is required to purchase memberships to premier adult sites. Under the program, a consumer will purchase the debit card and then visit porndebit.com to see a list of participating sites that accept the card. RCI Debit Services plans to distribute the card through adult oriented retail outlets across the country. The retail outlets targeted include adult novelty stores, convenience stores, adult cabarets and adult video stores. The card will be activated at the register.
