Red Cross VISA (10/28/99)
FULL STORY:
The average Canadian can now develop a philanthropic habit by using a
credit card. The Canadian Red Cross and Canada's Royal Bank have teamed up
to offer the 'Red Cross VISA'. The bank has already help collect $8 million
that Canadians donated to relieve the suffering caused by hurricane Mitch
and most recently, Royal Bank handled the collection on funds donated
on-line for the victims of the earthquake in Turkey. The card program is
the next step and represents the largest affinity credit card program
launched by Royal Bank. More than 400,000 Canadians are active members of
the Canadian Red Cross. Royal says a recent survey showed that 21% of
Canadians say they are very or somewhat likely to consider carrying
affinity cards, with 60% in that group indicating the affinity card would
become their main card. For more information visit www.royalbank.com.
