Loyalty Survey (5/28/99)
FULL STORY:
Do you think your shopping habits are affected by loyalty programs? Total
Research Corporation Friday released results of a survey they conducted on
loyalty programs. The survey found that 6 out of 10 people claim spending
more money with the company that offers their favorite loyalty program than
they did before joining. The survey also noted that participants in
airline and credit card programs were more likely than others to give more
business to the company with the program. Credit card loyalty programs
derived the greatest increase in usage with a 46% gain. The study also
found that if the company were to discontinue its loyalty program, 60% said
they would spend less with the company. Consumers reported that they
participate in an average of 3.2 loyalty programs.
