Online shoppers who repeatedly fill out the same information for online orders are doing it the hard way. This year an easier way has emerged. Digital wallets enable customers to store information such as credit card numbers, shipping addresses, and passwords so that the data doesn't have to be re-entered for every online purchase. It eliminates the tedious and repetitive task of completing online shopping order forms, passwords, login IDs and registration forms.
This week Providian introduced a digital wallet in conjunction with its Aria VISA card web site and Wells Fargo announced it is testing a digital wallet. Last week Bank One unveiled the bankonewallet. First USA, MBNA, Citibank, Chase Manhattan, NextCard and Capital One have all introduced some form of digital wallet this year.
