Blue SkyMiles (8/30/99)
FULL STORY:
For Delta's frequent flyers it's nothing but blue sky. Starting this week
Delta Air Lines SkyMiles will no longer expire. The decision comes on the
heels of similar adjustments made in programs run by United Airlines and American
Airlines. SkyMiles will not expire as long as a member participates in one of
the following activities every three years takes a qualifying flight on any
Delta service; earns SkyMiles through one of its program partners; or redeems
SkyMiles for any SkyMiles award. Since 1995 Delta required its members to fly
at least once every three years to avoid mileage expiration. Under the new
policy, cardholders who use their American Express/SkyMiles Credit Card at
least once every three years, do not have to fly or redeem awards to maintain
mileage. SkyMiles has 13 airline partners, 23 hotel partners, five car rental
partners. The 'Delta SkyMiles' program has 26 million members with more than
one million members carrying the AmEx co-branded credit card. For more
