CitiBank and Sony have forged an alliance to offer a co-branded credit card
called the “official currency of playtime”
(www.sony.com/sonycard) - that enables consumers
to earn points toward the purchase of a broad array of Sony merchandise and
entertainment.
Citibank, the nation’s largest credit card issuer and Sony, a leader in electronics and entertainment, launched the new card to enhance American’s leisure time and enable cardholders to access Sony products, services and entertainment, including: movie tickets at any Sony, Loews, Cineplex Odeon, Magic Johnson and Star Theaters; music CD’s, mini-discs and cassettes from Sony Music labels; Sony PlayStation games and hardware; Sony electronic products including TV’s, video players, cameras, personal stereos, videos and DVD movies.
Cardholders receive one Sony Point for each net purchase dollar charged to their co-branded Citibank card. Double Sony Points may be awarded for the purchase of Sony items, and triple Sony Points may be awarded for Sony items purchased at specified participating retailers. Sony points can be redeemed for credit to the cardmember’s account, at the rate of 100 Sony points for a $1 credit, for the purchase of Sony merchandise charged on the Sony Citibank Card at participating retailers, or for items in the Sony Rewards Catalog.
The Sony Citibank co-branded card, available to US residents only, is available as both a Platinum Select MasterCard or Visa, carries no annual fee, and has a 5.9% six-month intro rate. After the introductory period, the APR is variable, based on the US prime rate plus 5.9%.
Cardmembers can earn up to 250,000 Sony Points during any 12 consecutive months, starting from the date they become a cardmember. The Points expire after five years from the end of the calendar year in which they are earned. Some restrictions and time limitations apply.
